CBTC Capacity analysis from the conventional to the autonomous GoA4 model for the CBTC on Panama Metro line 2

Abstract

Description

This article presents the results of a formal andconceptual analysis for the CBTC Capacity analysis from theconventional to the autonomous GOA4 model for the CBTC ofPanama Metro line 2 in view of the requirements of the IEC62278 standard entitled: Railway applications - Specification anddemonstration of reliability, availability, maintainability andsafety (RAMS). For the Panama Metro to function, (GoA2) semi-automated train operation (STO) is the current degree ofautomation 2. To reach not just the GoA3 grade of automation,which is an intermediate level between the existing GoA2 and theintended GoA4, but also the GoA2 grade of automation, PML2would need to be upgraded to GoA2 through both technologicaland human investment.
