In Panama, the process of transporting and storing fruits and vegetables is done in a rudimentary manner, and in most cases the occupational health of workers is affected. Therefore, it is imperative the construction of a device that allows transporting, storing and protecting fruits and vegetables in the field in a safe way, which in turn considers the occupational health of those who operate it.  In order to carry out this research, information was collected through surveys of people working in agriculture in the Azuero Peninsula. The surveys were about the process of transporting and storing fruits and vegetables, as well as the experience of the farmers in this difficult task. The main objective of this research is to present a design and prototype of a mechanical device for transport and storage, which in turn provides safety for both the fruits and vegetables and the farmers. The results of the surveys show that the products suffer damage during transport and storage, due to the physical fatigue of the workers and the lack of a device that fulfills the functions required by the farmer. The results of this research showed that a device with these characteristics is of importance in our fields at a national level. The line of research for the construction of more prototypes to benefit the transport of fruits and vegetables is left open.En Panamá, el proceso de transportar, almacenar las frutas y verduras se hace de manera rudimentaria, y en la mayoría de los casos se afecta la salud ocupacional de los trabajadores. Por lo tanto, se hace imperativo la construcción de un dispositivo que permita transportar, almacenar y proteger frutas y verduras en el campo de forma segura, que a su vez considera la salud ocupacional de quien lo opera.  Para la realización de esta investigación, se procedió a recolectar información mediante encuestas realizadas a personas que laboran en el área de la agricultura en la Península de Azuero. Las encuestas fueron sobre el proceso de transporte y almacenaje de frutas y verduras, así como la experiencia de los agricultores realizando esta difícil labor. El objetivo principal de esta investigación es presentar un diseño y prototipo de un dispositivo mecánico para el transporte y almacenaje y, que a su vez brinde seguridad tanto a los frutos y verduras como a los agricultores. Los resultados de las encuestas muestran que los productos sufren daños en el transporte y en el lugar de almacenaje, producto del cansancio físico de los trabajadores y de la carencia de un aparato que cumpla con las funciones que necesita el agricultor. Los resultados de esta investigación mostraron que un dispositivo con estas características importancia en nuestros campos de cultivo a nivel nacional. Se deja abierta la línea de investigación para la construcción de más prototipos a beneficio del transporte de frutas y verduras.
